Behind The Logo: Chufunyu

Chufunyu was born out of dedication and appreciation for the sweat and tough grind of the people behind tea leaves. Even so, finding the name "Chufunyu" itself wasn't a painless path either. After spending hours writing Chinese characters, brainstorming, and research, the founders, Henri Lin and Kuan-Yu Lin, eventually found the idyllic word they've strived for, 初芳宇 (chū fāng yǔ).

The Chinese characters 初芳宇 (chū fāng yǔ) embodies Chufunyu's homage to the lengthy process behind tea leaves. The words individually mean "first - fragrant - space," which altogether translates to, "The first place where the (tea leaves) aroma unleashes." In other words, Chufunyu, as a teaware company, would like to present an exceptional space for the tea leaves to unfurl their flavors for the first time. 

 

Taking after the Chinese idiom of 天時、地利、人和 (tiān shí, dìlì, rén hé) which means, "The right time, the right place and the right people"; the immaculate trinity for good things to happen, Chufunyu's logo consists of three components that complete each other. These components are essential in creating a tea ceremony: tea leaves, water, and a human. There won't be tea without tea leaves, just as a human can't brew tea without water. Yet, a cup of tea will be a waste without a person enjoying it. Lastly, to accomplish a holistic philosophy, the person in the logo meditates in a lotus pose with arms pointed to the sky. This pose is known to connect Heaven and Earth. 

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry once said, "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." The founders excelled at the logo by choosing a unichrome color to complete the whole look.
